Good golly Miss Jolly Roger!
I FINALLY opened a Pyrat Pistol that I had purchased about a month or two ago. My salesman suggested that I do a mix with tonic. I first tried just a room temperature pour straight up and wowza, was that ever great! I then poured the rest of it into a wine glass and added tonic and ice. Double wowza! Sitting on the back patio, I kept thinking move over Gin and tonic, there's a new kid on the block.
Man alive, if all rum is like this, I'm gonna be buying some rum.

pyrat cask 1623
If you REALLY want something special and have a few extra bucks to spend, try Pyrat Cask 1623. One of the best rums I have ever had if not the best.

Never tried the Cask or Pistol, only the XO which is delicious. It's so good straight up, never considered diluting it... but summer is here, perhaps it's time to give it a go.

I'm looking to buy a good bottle of sipping rum and I was thinking about Pyrat. Which would you recommend the pistol, cask, or XO?

I just found the XO for $19.99, which seems like a screaming deal.

Ken I did buy it. It's my first foray into rums. Prior to this I've pretty much stuck to Myers dark. I bought the XO and also Mount Gay Sugar Cane and also Appleton Estate. Haven't tried any yet but looking forward to them and glad that I got such great recommendations from here! Greg

How much does the Pyrat Cask run? How does it compare to the XO?
I've heard great things abou the Appleton Estate, how much does it run and does anyone have any tasting notes?Tim

I too have recently discovered the tastiness of Rum! My current favorite is El Dorado 15yr. It is a product of Ghana and man it is good! I have a bottle of the Pyrat XO that I have yet to open. Looks like that may happen tonight!
