Well, it wasn't today and it wasn't bourbon, but on Saturday I picked up a bottle of the KDB 21 year old rye. I'm keen to compare it to the Rittenhouse 21yo when it shows up. Somebody speculated that they may in fact be the same whiskey, which would be pretty cool because the KBD rye was cheaper than the Rittenhouse is projected to be, at least at my local Binny's.

    Blanton CS (133.5 proof !)

I plan to keep 2 bottles of the RR for a while. The rest are to be lined up and drunk

    My pickups from yesterday:

    ORVW 10/107 ~$28.50
Ancient Ancient Age 10 yr ~$16.50

Also saw Sazerac Jr on the shelves here for the 1st time, ~$30/bottle, but I didn't pick it up

Sorry, thought my location was in my user-info. Here is the wonderful land of Oregon, with our not-as-wonderful state-controlled liquor stores.

I just learned today that Heaven Hill's 21-year-old rye is not the same as the KBD rye, which they have bottled for several people, but in a sense they are both Rittenhouse. The KBD stock is the same whiskey Julian bottled as his family reserve rye, which was made by Medley when they owned the Rittenhouse brand.

Are you sure the Ancient Ancient Age was the 10 year old and not the 10 Star version? Huge difference between those 2 and I did not think the 10 year was sold much outside KY and Binny's.

I bought OGD BIB with the fake tax strip and a TN state tax shoulder sticker on it. I also got a .5 pint of Weller Special Reserve with the Louisville label. I am looking forward to trying it.

Funny story. A homeless guy hit me up for two bucks to buy a half pint of LTD. I didnt have the cash but told him if he would follow me back in the store I would buy him one. They would only let me put 8 bucks on the card so I bought him two pints. The liquor store owner couldnt believe it and told me that guy had hit the lottery. That fella had a bigger smile on his face than my 5yo at christmas.

Running low on Weller 12yo so I went to order from Binny's. $22.99 a bottle...ouch! Never ordered from Sam's before, but I did tonight. Would much rather pay $17.99 than $22.99.
