Beer in New York, 1942

I thought some people would be interested in my post at www.bartowel.com. This is a Toronto-oriented beer site (no whiskey).

It is in the Forum, under Random Talk, and is headed "New York City and Beer, 1942". (No registration is necessary).

It is about some period references to beer I found in a volume of collected writings on food and drink by Ludwig Bemelmans (1898-1962), a noted American writer and artist.

I could have easily posted it here but had the bartowel site open so I put it there.

Thanks for posting this link. You might be interested in this article in the late, lamented Brewing Techniques on the beers of Bushwick, Brooklyn, NYC.

In it you will note that Trommer's was all-malt, as opposed to most of the others, which used some adjunct (corn or rice).
