    Re: Bourbon Find of 2006

Thanks Chuck....this was a team effort. I saw it being bottled. Dawn and others made the trip to acquire it and share it with others. My guess is that SB'ers ended up with about 75% of this bargain SW whiskey.

My biggest "find" was over Thanksgiving....going to get my Mom some Dulceda and finding original Pappy 20 and 23's at her local store. I'm not a big fan of the 23, but like the Boone whiskey in the Pappy 20.

2006 is not over yet, but I still dare to post this one. After just tasting it ones (yesterday) I must say my best find 2006 is Doug’s Willet 22 rye. Mind-blowing!!

Hunting in 2006 has been pretty darn good, but the best trophies of all were two consecutively numbered bottles of Mellow Mash bagged in Meade County last weekend!

I guess the hunting moment that took me the most aback this year was walking into a standard strip-mall liquor store and finding a whole row of Hirsch blue wax. They said they ordered them years ago and they've just been sitting there since. Being the kind hearted soul I am, I relieved them of the bottles so they could reclaim the "dead" shelf space. Several SB members became the indirect beneficiaries.

And many thanks, Mike. Several more SB.com'ers became beneficiaries at the Festival in September. There's about half of one bottle left.

Four Roses Small Batch. An exquisitely balanced whiskey with a complexity that keeps it interesting.

Kudos to Jim Rutledge and crew for this new release.
