Jim Beam Bonded...Advice Please.

I am reading in a lot of threads about the fact that BIB whiskey will have a distillation and/or bottling date...

I can't find this on my Jim Beam Bonded...Help?!

Maybe it's due to the export factor??

Umm, I can't yet Scott. I'm making my own 'Distiller's Masterpiece'

I have a 2L barrel which I had port in it for nearly 12 months, bottled the port(Oh and bloody great stuff too!!) and emptied 2L of Beam Bonded into the barrel.
So yes it will be great stuff in a little while longer...

When bottles still carried a strip tax stamp, the distillation and bottling seasons were printed on the green strip. Since the stamps' elimination, only the DSP (distilled spirits plant -- the location of distillation) is listed, somewhere on the label.

I will make sure I send a sample when it's bottled, unless you happen to be in the neighbourhood...

Cam I am expecting news any day now on my license and hopefully it's good!! Planning a trip to Melb any time soon??

Please forgive me for this because it's off the subject, but I saw a cool little gift set (with a very nice pocket flask) today along with Jim Beam Black Label. As much as I love Bourbons I'm not that big of fan of the standard Jim Beam.

So-- how good (bad) is the Jim Beam Black and what the heck is it?

It's an 8 year old product which is vastly superior to the White Label. I think you might like this one.

Jim Beam Black is my "reference bourbon" -- everything I taste is filed away as better/worse, more/less corn, more/less sugar, more/less wood, etc. compared to it. I find it squarely in the middle of many characteristics, and a decent sip by itself (in other words, "reference" doesn't necessarily mean "average"!)

For example, Jim Beam White is: worse, more corn, less sugar and wood, (more aerosol paint) compared to its black label cousin. Really night and day.
