    lot b

I purchased a bottle of Van Winkle Special reserve lot B (Jackson, MS, $35)
Nowhere on the bottle can I find the year it was bottled
On the bottom right side of the label it says 04.6084 (not sure if that means anything)
How can i tell what year it was bottled.
I belive if it was pre july 2005, then it would be SW

    thanks

    Re: lot b

I have a bottle that I purchased prior to 2005 and a bottle that I purchased post 2005 and they look identical.

I recently purchased a bottle with the pre-2005 price (believed to be SW and it looks just like the other two.

The good news is I don't think it matters if it's SW or not it's great bourbon.

    I do like the $35/bottle.

Absent a packaging change, there's often no way to date a bottle. Some (not all) do have a bottle-manufacture date (in two digits) on the bottom, and distillers to a man assure us that they don't warehouse bottles but use them as they arrive, so it's a sometime clue.
In the case of Van Winkle Special Reserve Lot B, the only difference I know of is that earliest bottles will carry a Lawrenceburg, KY bottling designation. Beyond that, I don't think there's any way to tell them apart. The good news is, not much way to tell 'em apart from what's inside the bottle, either.

I don't know a way to tell them apart, but both are excellent products and with a great price like that, Enjoy!

The Lot B (whether it's SW or not) is such a fantastic bourbon that it's easily on my top 5 list. I would buy the Lot B over a Hirsch, Bookers or some other premium bourbons any day. In my humble opinion, I think BT has some of the finest bourbons on the market. Julian has done a remarkable job with the Van Winkle line that I know when I buy a VW product, it's going to be good. I just tried my first bottle of Pappy 15 and was not disappointed.
