If I'm not mistaken, 1984 is when Blanton's first appeared, so this is a very early bottling. It would be interesting if you can compare it to a current bottling of the same parameters (proof/age).
I'm of the opinion that early bottlings of single barrels are superb, because the selector(s) essentially has/have free range over previously-unculled barrels. I have a 1994 WT Kentucky Spirit (first released in 1995), for example, that is wonderful bourbon.
