What's NOT avilable in Georgia

It's that time of year when we go looking for Christmas gifts, and for our bourbon friends, we always look for what we can't have. My brother-in-law is visiting Colorado from Atlanta, and I want to get him something he can't find there. For me, I would be tickled to receive a bottle of VOB, or Four Roses because they are not sold here. So what might we have that "y'all" in Georgia don't?

Chaz, the biggest holes in the Georgia line-up, would be some of the offerings from Buffalo Trace. Their namesake--Buffalo Trace, Elmer T. Lee, Weller 12, AAA 10 yr. (except for some old dusties) and the BTAC don't get here. Or, at least I've never seen them. Very, very rare would be Old Charter Proprieter's Reserve and Weller Centennial. I think the ones I have seen are older bottles. Of course, the Four Roses. And, whereas I have seen the lower proof Barton's, I haven't seen the 100 proof. From Heaven Hill, I've not seen any of the Rittenhouse Ryes. All of Jim Beam and Wild Turkey can be found.

At the end of the day, if you can land BT, ETL, Weller 12 or BTAC, you will stand an excellent chance of gifting an un-gettable to the resident of the Peach State.

Pearson's has the Weller Centennial on their Web site. I didn't check for it when I was in there over thanksgiving.

I hit a couple of Green's and Pearson's while I was there and wasn't impressed by the selection at all. I did better in La Grange (ER 101, WTRR 101, that cute cheap EW BIB).

I worked at Pearson's for a few years in the '80s. As part of the recent expansion they pulled up the carpet. Now the place doesn't smell right.

Thanks! Rittenhouse, although a rye is a good bet (an everyday pour for me). The Weller 12 is only available at two places, so it's hard to get here! So I think Weller's 12 it will be

Whoops! I spoke too soon. Stagg, Saz 18, and the Rittenhouse Ryes have hit Georgia. Sorry about the misinformation earlier. Just saw them today, after making a run through town. So, your choice of the Weller 12 looks like an excellent pick!

Even though it is available here it is tough to find so a bottle of the Hirsch 16 is always appreciated and marks you as someone "in the know".
