Desert Island List?

Sorry if this notion is trite but I figured it would be fun.

Suppose you were shipwrecked on a desert island and had the fortune of packing 5 bottles of bourbon or rye for your stay. What would you pick?

For starters, I'd say that I don't think I'd pick 5 of the most prized or rated bourbons but the ones that I drink regularly and crave (and those that satisfy!).

Here's my list in no particular order (I haven't had the fortune of trying BTAC so excuse my list):

OGD BIB
Pappy 15
Rittenhouse BIB
WT Rare Breed
Booker's

For me, it would be 5 bottles of 07 Stagg. And, not just because it's fine whiskey. Matter of fact, it's probably not even in my top 5! But there's a lot of utility you can get from 144 proof whiskey, when you're on a desert island. Then again, if you don't need it for antiseptic, fuel, etc.; with a little dilution, 5 bottles becomes 10!

Wow, the lists are so much fun to read and are a fine illustration of just how much bourbon and rye have grown. There are more bottles available now at both low, mid and high dollar amounts. Then again there are some that are no longer available.

I'll take 5 bottles of GTS, make it last and so many uses.

Good point! I just now scrapped my original list of top shelf bottlings in favor of the following:

1. Wild Turkey 101, 1.75 L.
2. Knob Creek, 1.75 L.
3. Old Weller Antique 107, 1.75 L.
4. Eagle Rare 101, 1.75 L. (if available, otherwise Eagle Rare Single Barrel, 1.75 L.)
5. Jim Beam rye, 1.75 L.
