What Are You Drinking Tonight, Winter'07/'08

I stuck here in Atlanta, on business for the week. I seem to be surrounded by the usual suspects: JBW, MM, Beam small batch, etc.... (Although, amazingly, Jefferson's seems to be available everywhere I go.)

I've been going to WT RR as the best available choice and I've rediscovered this very, very fine pour. True, It's not the old 101 version, but as Chuck has pointed out, it's a damn good bourbon in its own right.

Watching the BCS OSU v LSU game. Being a Michigan alum, it's hard to know who to root for--Big 10 or not Ohio State. It's a good game. OSU just dropped a pass in the endzone, so sad--I think. And my uncle graduated LSU. And my mom grew up in New Orleans. It's LSU for me, I guess.

As an aside, wathcing the game on a 40 inch W series Sony LCD TV--awesome picture. For anyone considering a high def TV, I'd recommend this or the Bravia XBR (I've got a 52 inch in the basement).

More to the point, the first quarter bourbon break is van Winkle Lot B.

Earlier this evening I finished off my Fighting Cock 103 with some DC. I had opened an early 80's Old Taylor 86 proof some time ago (375ml) and didn't like it so I wanted to revisit this bourbon. It's cleaned up some and I like it better. I then took a small splash of a mid 80's Cabin Still...SW era bourbon and not too bad, and then a larger pour of VSOF 12 year. It's good to have choices.

I, too, am watching the OSU/LSU game with a bottle of 15 Yr old Pappy and I too will tell you that its really magnifies the watchablity of the game. GO PAPPY!

Well, with 1:50 to go and LSU up 38-17, it's some 2006 Stagg, a bottle I'm trying to finish off to make room upstairs for a 2007. That should help me sleep as it's back to work tomorrow.

Guess there'll be some bourbon drinking on Bourbon St. tonight!
