in what order do you drink your bourbons?

I am finding that... maybe its my celtic heritage.... my family originated from Normandy.... but I drink a little of the High Priced stuff and then relegate to whatever I have in my stash thats a little cheaper. I found the other day that after drinking Four Roses Small Batch... my highest end bourbon, and OGD114, and maybe Weller's antiique, that the characteristics of the T W Samuels were really right up there! It had the jelly beans in the mouth premium taste! But when I start with TW Samuels, it doesn't. It has things in it that are a bit rough..... and I wonder if you like me find that it makes cents to drink the premium first and follow with the lesser expensive selections in your stash?

I think it makes sense to assume that one's senses are most acute w/ the first glass but I also find that my palate is most accommodating after my first pour. Typically I start w/ something solid and tasty and then lean toward my top shelf stuff knowing that after the second pour it's time to consider that I'm probably getting a little buzz on and need to finish things off for the night.

Like with food, typically the appetizers prime the pallet and the second course is the real blockbuster.

Since my taste buds are much more receptive with the first one, I like to start with a good, flavorful, easy drinker, then move down the spectrum from there.

I agree. If I start with Weller Antique 107, my tastebuds are shot and I can't even tell what I'm drinking after that. Better to start lower proof and move up the ladder. I like "Lot B" or Centennial to start and then move up to Pappy 15 or Antique (when I'm saving my pennies).
