I feel like an idiot asking this but what is a te cap?
thanks and please overlook my ignorance!

Tamper Evident
Colonel Ed
Bourbonian of the Year 2006

"It ain't the booze that brings me in here, it's the solace it distills"
Something like this...
"The City ain't no place for women, gal, but pretty men go thar."
If it's plastic (usually) and it separates into two pieces when opened for the first time (one piece remaining on the neck of the bottle), then it's tamper-evident or "te". (I'm pretty sure that the T-E caps on several scotch blends are made of metal.)
For example, compare Evan Williams (no age statement), which has a T-E cap, with Evan Williams Single Barrel, which has the more traditional cork stopper, wrapped in paper (or foil, I don't recall which). To my eye the latter is pretty tamper evident, too. Sometimes there's no explaining terminology.

Dog Lover, Euphonium Player, Campfire Guitarist, Marksman,
After receiving a bottle of ORVW 10 year 107 from Sam's that had been opened, I found myself wishing that the bottle had a cork stopper wrapped in foil. Far More evidentiary.
