A good topic. I wish I knew more readily which were which. I was going to propose a forum to delineate which current recipes fall into which category. Maybe I should start that? Or is there something already out there?

Well, it's easy for me as I have very little experience with the Wheaters.

I'm quite sure I tried a few more than what I listed but I can't remember them all. Since wheat is my favorite kind of bourbon I'll say that the ones at the bottom of my list aren't as bad as their position would imply. Where I ranking all of the bourbon I tried I think that most of these would be in the top 50%.

    Isn't there a W.L. Weller 19 from the BTAC's of years past?

Don't forget some of Julian's variations (all out of print):

    Old Commonwealth *
    Delilah's 10yo *
    Twisted Spoke *

    For the MO tasters:

    David Nicholson 1843

    For overseas:

    Maker's Mark 95pf (black wax) *
    Maker's Mark 101pf (gold wax) *
    I.W. Harper President's Reserve *

    And I think Oscar missed:

    Old Fitzgerald Prime 86pf *
    Old Fitzgerald Prime 80pf

(I'll post my ranking when I get back home to my tasting notes...)

Don't know about Virginia Gentleman, but Rebel Yell is. I distinctly remember reading that here on SB.com shortly after passing over some RY in a store, not realizing it was a wheater.

An interesting and enlightening thread, for those of us who are still in the early stages of our journey through the wide world of bourbon ...
