We attended a summertime picnic three years ago held in memory of a beloved friend and neighbor, Miss Sandra (who preferred that her life be celebrated rather than mourned). At the bar, when we asked for bourbon, we were offered a pour of Rebel Yell. Assuming we were being given the current version, we were floored by an explosion of the bourbon flavors we love. To my (Dave's) recollection, I think butter, caramel, toffee, vanilla. That may seem elementary, but those were the flavors that drew me to bourbon years ago. When we asked to see the bottle, we realized it was a tax stamped late 80's RY that had been gathering dust. To this day, I wonder if Miss Sandra was looking down on us and guided us to a special treat.
With that, I'm wondering what your impressions were without all of the psychological overlay we carry regarding 80's era Rebel Yell.

Booker's cut to about 110 proof. I taste Knob Creek with more spice and an expected increase in the burn.

Continuing chronologically, the next distillation date up tonight is some Very Old Fitzgerald 8yo BIB, disitlled in 1954 and bottled in '62. I started school in 1962 (and thus far have advanced all the way to 2nd grade). Cheers to gathering maturity
