Had a dalwhinnie 15 last night, still trying to find my legs with scotch as I wasn't too impressed again.
The water was not fit to drink. To make it palatable, we had to add whiskey. By diligent effort, I learned to like it.

It's mellower than its younger siblings, but nicely balanced. It has been replaced by a 25 year old, which is also nice, but bolder.

I did a review of it 6 years ago here if you want to read it.
Tonight's dram is Campbeltowm Loch 30 and the previously released (and reviewed) 25. The 25 has a slight edge.

Eagle Rare 17. I actually had it in a reidel chardonnay stemless glass. I actually like the glass -- it didn't concentrate the nose too much. IMO snifters with bourbon can just bowl you over with the alcohol in the nose. You gotta let it breathe out a bit, but it should still taper inwards.
Anyway, I killed the bottle. Good thing I have an emergency backup.
Decided to skip the bourbon tonight and go with a Aberlour a'bunadh. I love the Sherry influence at cask strength. It's a chewy, terrific dram.
