Well you were both right ... bottle is a little more than a third gone now and that spirity/young element that seemed to dominate the flavor for me when first opened is much subdued, and this incredible fruit has really blossomed with some Indian spice (like black cardamom) - very dense, and it can take a healthy dollop of water. Very full on the palate and despite the proof I really don't get "heat". Nicely sherried. I often see folks recommend a bourbon for a scotch drinker - this might be a great scotch for bourbon drinkers who haven't really enjoyed scotch in the past - and for around $60-$65 for 120+ proof, a great QPR for scotch and a pretty good one from a bourbon perspective as well, IMHO.
