Yes. Give it time. You may come to love this one, as I did. But then I'm an Aberlour fanatic, so I enjoyed mine from the very first sip.

Well you were both right ... bottle is a little more than a third gone now and that spirity/young element that seemed to dominate the flavor for me when first opened is much subdued, and this incredible fruit has really blossomed with some Indian spice (like black cardamom) - very dense, and it can take a healthy dollop of water. Very full on the palate and despite the proof I really don't get "heat". Nicely sherried. I often see folks recommend a bourbon for a scotch drinker - this might be a great scotch for bourbon drinkers who haven't really enjoyed scotch in the past - and for around $60-$65 for 120+ proof, a great QPR for scotch and a pretty good one from a bourbon perspective as well, IMHO.

Lagavulin 16 as my last pour of the evening,the sweet marriage of sherry influence and peat is just divine.I haven't revisited this bottle for quite some time,even better than I remember just a true classic.

Aberlour A'bunadh Batch 32 to finish off the evening. Preferred slightly to the more sour #41, but not as much as #39 which had more vivid fruit and viscous mouthfeel.

Have the recently released several batches simultaneously? I bought #41 over the summer and thought it was the most recent, but have seen 42 and 44 (but no 43) pop up on some different websites lately.

A little Roquefort and Islay together does sound interesting. I have tried some pairings before just not with any peated scotch,I will just have to give this a go.

Delving into my Concannon Irish whiskey for the first time over rocks before heading out for dinner. Very nice. It's a nice, easy blend, but with an extra richness that I might attribute to the extra maturing. Overall, a great buy at around $20 if you can find it.
