The last few days I've been hitting the Famous Grouse 12. I'm really not liking this one and I've known that for a while but I trying to make room on the shelf.

I just happened to reach for the Famous Grouse while watching my alma mater play basketball...funny to see your post above! I find it sweetish, a little bit of peat, fairly one dimensional, not bad for a blend. The nose shows the grain alcohol, it has a very short finish. I don't find it "bad" just simple.

I quite like the standard Grouse blend but this is the 12 Year Old Vat (I know that's not PC anymore but I can't help it) and it just doesn't do it for me.

I haven't tried that version. They have multiple versions per their website but we don't see all them in the stores.

I got some on sale recently. It is pretty good. Has a pleasant fruitiness to it that you don't get in other Glenlivets.

The Balvenie 17-year Madeira Cask.

Those of you who've been reading my posts for a few years now know that I bear a marked preference for Madeira-finished whiskies. With a hint of toffee and bitter orange in the nose, this one certainly didn't disappoint!

Too bad it was a 2009 Limited Release...
