Huge fan of the Green. Living proof that the single-malts got nothin' on the blends.

Back in the day I championed the Red. I'd load up a highball with ice, drop in a few olives and cover with Red. I'd sip until it hit that perfect blend of whisky and water (and olive brine) for me, and then gobble it down as if it was a sno-cone. Good times.

But yeah, Green rocks.

Thanks for the correction. I just spent a couple minutes reading through a bunch of whisky entries on Wikipedia, and I understand the difference now. With distinct categories like "Blended Malt Scotch" and "Scottish Blends" you really have to be a stickler for detail.

Tried Bowmore 12 for the first time yesterday. Not a big fan, to be honest.

I'm into my firts bottle of Scapa 14. Excellent stuff!

I'm having my first go at the Old Pulteney 12 yr old. Man this is good stuff. It's the first time I've had a briney (is that a word?) malt and while I was a bit skeptical before, I must say it works well. A bargain of a dram if you ask me.

Yes, I had some Balvenie 12 yr after the Old Putney and found the contrast a bit sweet. I'm back drinking the Old Pulteney now my new favorite. Makes me wonder how the 17 yr and 21 yr old tastes

I have had the 21 year. Its very good, but the 12 is just as good. And its a way better value!

I had quite a bit of the 12 last night and it has a very unique salty brine flavor for sure. To close out the night I went for another 12yr... the Highland Park. The contrast was fantastic this time (recall I had Balvenie 12 after the OP and it was waaay too sweet). While the OP was light, salty and delicate, the HP was a mouthful of flavorful peat, smoke and spice - a very nice contrast. I might work that order in again tonight
