    Bourbon Haiku

The island of Hawaii is, according to the last Federal census, the most ethnically diverse county in the U.S. There are many Japanese-Americans here, and the haiku is cherished as an art form and encountered frequently. A haiku is a three-line poem of five, seven, and five syllables. It normally refers in some way to a season or seasons. Haiku often seem elliptical or even obscure, which adds to their charm.

I suggest we modify the theme to suit our own purposes. No new ground here; a search brought up a couple of threads from a few years ago which didn't take off.

Having recently participated in the Two-Word Challenge thread, I think it's now appropriate to expand our literary horizons (or, in my case, pretensions). Here are three offerings to get us started:

    Red wax shines brightly
    Prepare to meet your Maker
    Yes there is a God

    Sitting on the curb
    Plastic flask in paper sack
    Feel the white dog's bite

    Listen to Zappa
    And swill blackjack over ice
    Weasels ripped my flesh

Like I said, elleptical and/or obscure are OK!

    Cheers,
    Mark

(With apologies to Jack Kerouac and the famous haiku poet he was adapting):

Cases of vodka and fancy labels
    Useless, useless.

    Where did it all go?

    We laughed loud and long

    Social lubricant

    My wife says I stink
    like some kind of alcohol
    I know what it is

    Enquiring minds ask
    Does whiskey make you frisky?
    I just crash and burn
