I just opened a bottle of Very Old St. Nick Winter Rye and I hope that it gets better as it has time to air (like I feel my Eliajah Craig 12 yr. bottle did), because this stuff tastes predominantly like sherry, with a little bit of tabacco, a touch of black licorice, char, and leather. Not what I was hoping for.

    Oh well, back to work.

Sorry you didnít like it. Old st Nick winter rye is one of my all time favourite brands, but I have only tasted older bottlings. Besides our differences in preferred taste, it may be a big difference over time as well I guess. Maybe its not even made at the same distillery.
Saw on your profile that you like to deadlift. I did a lot of that stuff myself many, many years ago.

Thanks for your comment. Next time I have it, I will try it neat, instead of on the rocks. See if that changes anything.

Having something I haven't had in a very long time. Not bourbon, but Crown Royal. This was my whiskey of choice for a long time. Ahhhhh, the memories. A very nice change of pace. Joe

Still working my way through unloved bottles via Manhattans -- Forester BIB (dimple bottle) and a harsh 70's S-W Cabin Still. (I don't think I've ever had a wheater Manhattan!)

    Any bitters recommendations?
