Forty Creek Barrel Select. It is reinforcing my opinion that any subtlties of flavour are lost beneath the essense of a low-grade sherry cask. Not bad but not even in my top ten of Canadian whiskies.

I'm pretty sure the 15 was a one time only release.

I agree with you that the Chivas is surprisingly decent. I bought a bottle duty free a while back and shunned opening it for nearly a year because I thoroughly expected to dislike it and I figured I'd gift it to someone if the occasion arose. I found it had a very pleasant smoke and peat profile.
    Whisk(e)y - a bargain at any price !!!

I have been enjoying this one. The bottle is almost gone. Tonight there is a little more sweetness.

I was considering several Islays but I went finally with Talisker 10. Unlike CB P. Monster, Talisker is smokey throughout. It is excellent and very dry at the finish.

I think I will pick up another Scotch, one that is a little more mild like HP 12 or Caol Isla 12, to serve as a lead in.

Finally picked up Cragganmore 12. Very nice, fresh, light-bodied with lots of fruit and tangy malt flavour.

I picked up a gigantic 1.75 L of Glenfiddich 12. I had been intending to buy Glenlivet 12 but was leaning towards Glenmorangie Original after reading this months Whiskey mag. But this was on sale for $50 after tax and at that price its Glenfiddich for all my friends.

Also, for PA people, there is this and also some lower end single malts on closeout. Bowmore legend, Auchentoshan Classic and I think Speyburn 10.

A Costco here in Albuquerque has Glenlivet 18 for 52.99, so I picked one up. The last time they carried this they priced it at $66, so it was a nice price reduction.

If you lived in Canada you might appreciate how ridiculous this statement sounds. Booze at Costco, for one thing, and The Glenlivet 18 for $52.99, for another. I think it's about $92 in these parts.
