Re: Which Water of Life Did You Purchase Today?

On a whim, I picked up a Scotts selection Glenlivet 1970 33 yr.

It didn't taste anything like I imagined. Not as oaky, but plenty of sherry. For 112 proof, it was really smooth and not very spicy.

I would call it a Macallan CS with twice the maturity. It certainly earned a spot in the cabinet.

That one was on the shelf for awhile. Hope they kept the original price on it from 6 years ago.

They have 9 or 10 other iterations of the Scotts selection from the same years. But I cant seem to find much info on them.

There is a 1964 North of Scottland that looks nice and dark, and a Glen Mohr from 1967. So many choices and no info on them.....

Re: Which Water of Life Did You Purchase Today?

I don't know how much 1964 North of Scotland Scott's managed to get hold of but the 3 I've had were all very good. The 41yo is what I have currently but the latest 45yo isn't bad but is getting more woody then the 41 or the 43. There is also a 1973 32 yo that I haven't seen in the US.

Any price under $175-180 for the 1964 is going to be a good deal.

I'm with you on the Johnnie Walker Green. A few friends and I knocked off a bottle at a party recently and it tasted great (burned clean too the next day)!
