I went to what is supposedly THE shop for single malts in my area and made the following request:
"Not peated, not sherried, not medicinal, but strong and distinctive. Maybe cask strength."
I got a Scott's Selection 1988 Bunnahabhain. 16 y.o. cask strength. Very excited to crack it open as soon as I make shelf space.
Glenfiddich 12y, with the glencairn.
Picked myself up a Glenlivet Nadurra 16yr old cask strength non-chill filtered. Can't wait to crack it open and taste my first cask strength scotch!
My brother got my an Amrut Fusion or Christmas. Nice stuff!

I couldn't possibly leave The Balvenie 12yr Double Wood on the shelf for $37.99.
I picked up the Bunnahabhain 12
Here is Ralfy's review of one version:

Interesting, it is the main component of Black Bottle.
I have not tried it yet, but I like the fact that it is the lightest
peated of the Islay...it will still be signifcant, but hopefully not has
overwhelming as Lagavulin, Laphroaig etc.
