While shoppers vineyard had it on sale with free shipping I ordered a couple bottles of Ardbeg 10. I wanted to branch out and try some different whiskeys, but this will definitely take some acquiring a taste for. My wife says it smells like stinky shoes.

What is it about alcohol and feet with the ladies....according to my wife most red wines (pinot noir and cab especially) smell and taste like dirty socks.

Yeah, I know, I used to drink and recently did acquire some, Glenfiddich 15 (along with the 12 and 18) in the 200ml sampler packs. It just had nothing that I used to enjoy going on so I wanted something on the different end of the spectrum.
I will probably be grabbing some Tamdhu 10 year before it completely disappears since Stu let me taste that in Kentucky and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
The biggest issue for me in trying scotch is the price.
Not sure Tom, I can kind of see Ava getting those scents in the Ardbeg and Barb seeing that in Cab, but pinot to me is usually a little fruity on the nose. All in all I think what they are picking up is what the connoisseurs note as "earth tones" or as I read recently "lead pencil". Now that was a new one to me!

Finally got a bottle of Kilchoman!! Very light, guess that relates to only 3 years in a Buffalo Trace barrel. Very peaty!! I like.

I'm going to have to re-taste mine.....I thought the peat was a little light (especially for a 3 year old), but it did have plenty of iodine.
