Picked up another 2 Danfields 21 yr. Very nice whisky at a good price.

Whisk(e)y - a bargain at any price !!!
I got a bottle of Wisers 10yo. Canadian. I have bottles of the 18 and Reserve so why not. Besides, it came with a free miniature of 360 vodka attached to the bottle neck. I'll put it in my collection!

Grabbed Forty Creek Confederation Oak Reserve on sale. Pretty decent so far.
Picked up some Forty Creek Barrel Select and a bottle of Forty Creek Double Barrel Reserve. I would love to find the Confederation Oak down here in the states. Maybe some day.
Grant's Family Reserve. Picked it up for the price only. Unexciting whisky but it is still whisky. I don't feel as if I got absolutely nothing for my money or it was a total waste but I cannot compare it to Laphroiag which I bought last night or even Famous Grouse (the next level up from the basic) but I have to drink it over ice cubes and no water to even get much flavor.
Perhaps I spoiled myself by picking up the Laphroiag.
I am still too new to whisk(e)y and I am just learning to appreciate it. Unfortunately my tastes are too expensive for my budget.
Laphroaig, the standard version, in mini bottle form.
This will be my first Islay Malt. Just beginning to get into scotch a little here.
Hmm, still not sure. It didn't make such an immediate impression as CC Sherry Cask or even Crown Royal Black. But as with many good Canadians, (Crown Royal Cask No. 16 comes to mind), it gets better with time.
The most striking thing about it is the clean, smooth oak flavour which persists long after you swallow. It is not the heavy charred oak of bourbon or the more musty oak of older Canadian whisky but is rather fresh and sweet. There is also some nice vanilla, toffee, some toasted nuts, and some fruitiness too. It is quite subtle at first.
Overall I think I'm glad that I picked it up. I also really liked their Double Barrel Reserve, which struck me as sweeter and creamier. Not sure which I like better.
