I tried a Wild Geese blend (43% alc/vol) in an Irish whiskey tasting. It was actually one of the better ones that night. Nice soft lemony notes.

Just bought a bottle of Michael Collins (Irish, Blend), John L Sullivan (Irish, Blend), and Jura 10-year (Scotch, Single Malt).

The Michael Collins I'm already familiar with-- it's a great blend, almost identical to Kilbeggan in taste. And, since I can't get Kilbeggan in PA, this is my "go-to" Irish. I swear there is a hint of apple in both the nose and finish.

The John Sullivan is also a Cooley blend, but is supposed to use a higher proportion of first-use oak in their barrels, so it should be a little bolder.

The Jura 10 I bought on a whim. I'd much rather have their peated Superstition, but, again, I live in PA.

Finally pulled the trigger on the Redbreast CS last night and had to open it up right away. Tons of fruit on the palate and an incredible nose. Probably the easiest drinking 100+ proof I've ever had. I had to check the bottle to make sure they didn't swap it out with the regular version. Great stuff.

Redbreast CS, loved the 12 year so only natural for me to pick up the cask strength version!

Grabbed a Trader Joe's Single Malt Irish yesterday. Having my first sips now and I'm impressed for $20. I get a lot of golden raisins on the palate. This is thoroughly pleasant and drinkable.

Re: Which Water of Life Did You Purchase Today?

Just visited a good buddy of mine in Delaware. Taking me to the best stores nearby is quickly becoming a tradition for us. I have gotten so frustrated with the PA liquor system that I am now reducing my liquor runs to once a month, and I am driving an hour and a half to Delaware to make said monthly liquor runs.

    So, without further ado--

    - Glenmorangie Astar
    - Glenmorangie Finnealta (now a rarity, as the limited run is up)
    - Glenmorangie Artein
    - 2 bottles of Evan Williams Single Barrel, 2001 Vintage (holy crap is this stuff good!)

If you think it's good now - and you have the patience to work on it slowly (like over a few months) - the 2001 I had got even better with some age. By the last third of the bottle, I swear it developed a subtle dark cherry flavor underneath it. Most excellent stuff.
