One more SDB (semi dusty bottle) 10H10

While returning to work from lunch today, I stopped in a liquor store that I've noticed before but hadn't had the pleasure to visit

These bottles didn't seem to have any dust on them but I guess they were about 10 or 11 years old. Kudos on the fine house keeping at the liquor store. The whiskey is Ten High 10 year. Searching previous posts, I found that it was sold in a tin but mine was naked.
They had an old sticker showing $8.99 but that was crossed out and I paid $15 for a bottle.

They also had a few more bottles of this and a few other SDB's that looked promising. I think I'm returning after work to shop a bit more.

Had some of that at the Gazebo. It's a different beast from the current Tom Moore creature or its blended bastard child. I really liked it, but it was a bit on the tame side. Nobody else I talked to seemed to care much for it though.

Re: One more SDB (semi dusty bottle) 10H10

I picked up 4 more bottles after work of the 10H10 and found a few more bottles worth getting. The final haul was...

5 - 10High 10 year old
4 - 2006 WLW (I've been hoping to find one bottle...imagine my surprise)
1 - 2005 Spring GTS
1 - PVW15 bottled in 2007 (but looks identical to the current stuff color-wise...thought it might have been SW)
1 - 2006 Handy
1 - 2006 Sazerac 19
1 - 2006 Eagle Rare 17
2 - VWFRR (2007 bottling)
3 - ORVW 10/107 from Lawrenceburg (looks much darker than the current release.

Hopefully i'll post a pic later.

What a fabulous day for me and my budding bourbon hobby. I've wanted to find some SW juice (and think i have in the 2006 WLW and the ORVW) to see what everyone else has been talking about. I'm fairly new to this and many on this site have had the pleasure of drinking some fine whiskey over the years and now I can too. I think it's very cool to drink something that hasn't been produced in years and won't ever be again.

Thanks to everyone on this site who has shared info about different and dusty whiskey!

I don't think any of the WLW's are S/W. But your ORVW is.

Well, it's a start. Luckily my wife is very understanding of my hobby.
And I was able to get a 10% discount on everything. The owner of the store mentioned to me, as I was interested in the BTAC, that the 2008 wasn't very available due to a new distributor selling most of it to one retailer.

Abd I left behind a 1995 EWSB.

The WLW is most likely SW as it was distilled Spring '91. SW didn't close down until '92.

Tommy,

That's a really great haul. You now have some really great whiskeys in your bunker. The WLW is one of my favorite pours. The Stagg is another really great find. Well done.

The math is correct of course, but I heard from decent sources that BT did not in the end use S/W for this product, but other wheat they had on hand. Not to mention that WLW has no family resemblence to S/W in flavor or body (in my opinion).

I do like WLW though, it is a very nice pour.

I've heard the same (but also the opposite from other sources I'd consider decent, at worst) as well as some interesting theories as to why it wouldn't be and I don't know what to believe. I like to assume it's not SW because even if it was we'd probably never get it again in WLW. Whoever made it, they definitely picked a winner here!
