The ETLBUB (sounds almost like a poltergeist movie title, doesn't it?) here, on left:

Tim, is it coincidence that Bulleit bottles that look like ETL bottles are next to the ETL BUB in that pic?

Re: Etl Bub

not exactly- Buffalo Trace apparently bottled some of the earlier bulleit expressions. the current one is a four roses child.

Well, yes and no -- I didn't design either bottle, nor select them, but I certainly DID notice the progression to the current ETL Single Barrel bottle...

So, Blanton's is japanese now? I thought it belonged to Buffalo Trace.
It is still on their website as one of their products. Can you specify this construction.

I just purchased an old lable EtL. It is 90 proof. That shop has 3 more.

IIRC, it goes something like this: Takara had contracted with then Ancient Age to provide with for its Japanese Market whiskey that it was creating, Blanton's. When the distillery was put up for sale, to protect its source of whiskey, Takara bought the distillery. Takara stills own the Blanton's brand, but allows Buffalo Trace the rights to domestic distribution (which is why we don't get the many various higher end bottlings)

The gist of Timothy's answer amounts to: Blanton's has ALWAYS been Japanese-owned, and it has NEVER belonged directly to the Buffalo Trace distillery -- except when IT, TOO, belonged to the Japanese owner of Blanton's -- whatever the distillery's contemporary name.
But, the now-Buffalo Trace Distillery HAS always made it.
