Old Joe

I am looking for Old Joe collectibles. I am referring to the Old Joe Distillery which is now the Four Roses facility in Lawrenceburg (or at least it was a few years ago - I haven't checked recently). I am *not* referring to Old Joe Gideon which seems to be all over ebay.

I just picked up an unopened Old Joe miniature on ebay, but I have been waiting for over a year for an empty (or full!) fifth bottle to show up. A real score would be the Old Joe lamp. My family used to have the huge bottle from which the lamp was made - it always graced the hearth in the family room. My cousin has my deceased Grandfather's complete lamp. Everyone in the family wants to get it from her. ;-)

As you might have guessed, my Grandfather used to work at Old Joe and many other distillies, but Old Joe has the fondest memories for me and my siblings. And for those of you who know me, Grandma Bryant is stilling doing fine. She turns 90 this November. I'll be in L'ville at the end of the July for the family reunion and we are going to celebrate her 90th while everyone is in town.

Re: Old Joe

Thanks. Gave up drinking about 18 months ago after I started to use bourbon too often to calm down at the end of the day. I didn't go off the deep end, but when you love bourbon so much and you use it to help alleviate the day's stress, well, you can see where that might lead you. As you can guess, hanging out here would be inconsistent with the new goal, so....Anyhow, I really do miss you all.

Talking Woohoo!

I finally scored my big Old Joe bottle. Dang, it cost a pretty penny.
