Re: Dusty Finds

Nice find on the Handy this late in the year! Can't wait until I know enough to know what I'm looking at when I'm searching! lol.

Re: Dusty Finds

The dual-quad sets of Old Fitz BIB and Cabin Still look fantastic.
I've got the big-brothers to those baby's and can appreciate your finds!

Thanks for sharing the pics - you obviously had a really good hunt!

Re: Dusty Finds

I don't know if you can tell, but we found the Evan Williams single barrel in 1991, 1995 and 1996 versions. The 1991 was a surprise given where we were. We found 2 McKenna single barrels both from 1994 in the same place. I had already purchased a McKenna at Schneider's (where Greg snagged the Handy and I the Black Maple Rye 18yr plus the two more recent EWSBs) so I wasn't going to get them. On a whim, before we left, I asked to look at it anyway and that's when I saw the date. Needless to say, those bottles now live in Virginia.

Greg neglected to post pics of the I.W. Harper Gold Labels and a few other odds and ends. All in all, quite the day.

Then again, maybe we're just a little insane. Just a little.

Re: Dusty Finds

Yah, sorry 'bout that. I realized after I posted the pics that I left some out...I had 4 boxes of whiskey to go through and it was late, so wasn't thinking real clear. Here's the other pic....

JW,

90% of what I know, came from right here in SB. Keep reading and researching and you'll snag that first Dusty. I have to admit, it's dangerously addictive. My wife wasn't 'pleased' when I hauled in 4 boxes of bourbon last weekend....I had to explain that it wasn't all mine which smoothed things over somewhat.

SB has great archived information that will give you plenty of insight into what you should be looking for....the pics are especially helpful in the beginning. Good luck!

Re: Dusty Finds

I went back into DC today and found quite a few nice treasures. The best find of the day was two Stitzel Weller Distillery Old Fitz with a tax stamp date of 1971. Another great day of dusty hunting......
