  2. The wife had GoT on the telly tonight, for me it was more background noise. I was enjoying some '15 Michter's BP Rye, and it was fantastic. Now a small nightcap of a Blanton's store pick before I'm off to bed.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking? (Spring 2019)

    GOT & the bird tonight.
  7. Enjoyed a pour of Yellowstone 2017 LE along with some bourbon balls and a few other bourbon chocolates, all while watching Ep 2 of GOT season 8.

    Piggy Back

Just tried this and I think its perfectly average rye whiskey. Had a profile similar to younger MGP rye for me. I think there are much better offerings for the money, but if someone showed up with a bottle at my house, I'd drink some. It's a lot better than Farmstock IMO.
  9. 2015 Michter's barrel strength rye. Been awhile since I visited this bottle, easy to forget how awesome this is.
  10. My wife is not a big bourbon fan. It is just too strong for her. But, man, I wish I had her nose and palate for discerning fragrances and flavors. I always have her following the sampling of a new pour to see how my perception matches up to hers.
  11. Wait?!? You married a woman who had at least one bottle of bourbon in the bunker. That is a whole different level of awesomeness.

    Do you blend

Absolutely, let the 1910 and the 1920 get to know each other, but indeed it was a 50/50 mix, therefore 1915/1915 and I really like the combo...I will try a 40(1920)/60(1910) mix in the future to get the edge off the 1920 in one bottle and add a little heat to the other, then call them 1914 & 1916...will report back with a SBS taste of all 3...
  13. The temptation for me at this point is more along the lines of what someone might be willing to give me in terms of other bottles more that in terms of money.
  14. Beer before and with dinner. Finishing off with some Boone County Eighteen 33 12 year. Hope everybody had a great day.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking? (Spring 2019)

EW SB "2011". Was really disappointed at first, but about halfway through the bottle now and it has opened up a little. Some caramel and orange coming through. I'm enjoying it.

    Kentucky Owl Confiscated

I just picked up a bottle, and thought it was good, but not great. Definitely no where close to as good as their barrel proof batches.

What are you cookin on the smoker?

Well if no one is posting lamb or ham, guess I’ll be that guy. Kind of trying follow these guys recipe. Mine was boneless and I didn’t properly account for less time. After two hours this was around 130, so no finish in the foil. I was hoping to get to around 110, do a quick sear than finish for a bit in the foil, oh well. Took it off before I got a shot, Grill after with potatoes and corn.

    Do you blend

50/50 or some other ratio? I like 'em both separately, although the 1910 sometimes has an musty oak aftertaste. Tried 50/50 and while really good in combo (takes the slight edge of the 1920), still get a hint of mustiness. I let 'em mingle for @ month before a pour. Also tried a 50/50 4G mix of DN1843 and OGD114 - the OGD is too harsh for me alone, but the DN addition (which I really like) really boosts the combo, while not dropping the proof quite as much as WSR. Gotta compare it one day to the other 4Gs I've got - RH and SAC.
