1792 is just Barton bourbon. My favorite 1792 are the High Rye and the regular Single Barrel (beige neckband). Unfortunately I heard on these boards that they announced the High Rye is discontinued now. If true, that sucks.
-
There are several different versions of EH Taylor. That small batch probably least expensive relatively.
-
45$ for the small batch. I enjoy it more that BT and ER myself, and will personally go up to $60 on this.

What did you purchase this Spring? (2024)

MM101 used to be cheaper than CS here in Texas. I bought my 101 when they were $34. But when the latest release of 101 came out, the price crept up above the CS. (CS is ~$38 whereas 101 is $41). Makes zero sense . The only thing I can think of, is that they slap the "limited" label on the 101. Ridiculous. Btw, Indiana must have the best bourbon prices in the entire country. -

I can assure you from personal experience that some picks are significantly better. I have a case from a barrel that is miles better than regular BT (much more depth and complexity). But those were purchased in 2016. But other picks I have on hand (more recent) are not necessarily better than regular BT (e.g. one pick I have has a bit too much oak tannins for my liking). In a word, I've found BT private pick barrels are all over the place profile-wise. Not consistent. But the problem with regular "shelf" BT that I've observed is that sometimes it can just taste too young and grainy for my preferences. -

I've also been passing on McKenna 10 left and right, all around the "new" msrp. I stored several away years ago at $26 to $30.

For shits and giggles I called some stores. Found colonel E H Taylor. What’s a going price on this ?? Thanks.

What rye are you drinking or purchased 2024

Killed a bottle of WTR101 tonight. It is not RyeDay but I don't plan to drink on Good Friday so... The bottle had a couple fo healthy pours. Watching Rugrats on TV. Not sure why. -
Chicago, Shchicago... Capone's territory. Indy should get everything before Chicago. Just saying.
-
I get that, I know. Doesn't mean I can't pass because the current price pisses me off. Not too long ago it was $25-30. The 6 yr BIB was $11. The current 7 yr BIB is $50. I'm not bending over any more. Prost!! Phil

Distribution here is sometimes……… I believe our proximity to Chicago might be a factor. I heard things from sales reps in the past. Trickle down effect. Gotta make sure the places in Chicago are taken care of first.

I thought I had finished this bottle, but just found it hiding behind some other bottles I hadn't moved in a while. -
This might be a dumb question. But is there any source that a person can go to and see what a bottle of bourbon is going for?? Just to see if a store is to high on price?? Thanks.
-
That’s what she said. Lmao. Love that show. It’s funny I looked several places for the Buffalo trace liquor store no go. Went to Walgreens there it was last bottle. Funny how that is. Thanks again to all

@ThommI am with @PaulO, if the fill level is low then the whiskey is probably skunked. Personally, I wouldn;t even try it. I would just dump the contents and make the decanter a decorative piece. I have several unused decanters that I used for decorative pieces. I am just not a decanter guy.

My local grocery west of Indy had a supply of HMcK10 over a 2 month period. I bought one at $53.99 retail. I bought two more bottles a few weeks later on sale at $40.49 each. I haven't seen any for a few months now. Before the recent drops, I hadn't seen any for several years.

I was once told "You must have just fell off the turnip truck." That was my late FIL when I asked if I could marry his daughter. I asked him if he had set up a dowry. He said sure "She comes with a Plymouth Volare station wagon." Man, I miss that car.

What did you purchase this Spring? (2024)
mbroo5880i replied to markandrex's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
West of Indy...MM $19.99-24.99, MM101 $29.99-31.99, MMCS $34.99-36.99. These prices have been consistent for the past few years. Similar to Joe, 1.75s between $34.99-$39.99. -
Look for new and different bottles to experience. House brands and BIBs are a great place to start. However, a sexy bottle or two is ok as well. If I am picking up a few bottles, I like some standard fare but also something that just piques my interest. Happy Hunting!

Odd prices here too @smokinjoe. Binny’s has MM101 for $36.99, and MMCS for $39.99. A decent store here has MM101 for $29.99 (been on sale for a while), and MMCS for $51.99. I just picked up a 1.75 of MM on sale at Binny’s for $39.99. - Yesterday

True it’s like there’s so many now. I’m just looking for a couple to start out. I have the buffalo trace. I’ll probably stick with what they have to offer. If I can find two I’ll be happen for awhile. Lol. Everyone probably says that.
