I'm not a Facebooker, so any heads-up on the NY allocation would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Did NYC go out yet?

Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery Yes, it should be there by the end of the week.

David Krane Great! Can you tell me which which stores carry it? I've had trouble finding you.

Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery Park Ave, Union Square, Astor, Beekmans are a few suggestions.

I think you have now found your reason for joining Facebook! Screw the social networking features, it will help you in your quest for bourbon!

New to this, but I was just able to get a bottle of Lot B, 15, and 20 I would like to put it together with one or 2 other bourbons for a tasting. I have a few friends like me that are new to this and we did a random tasting earlier of 6 bottles that we all had. I would like to create some order to this. If I understand right the PVW line is wheat bourbon? am I right? should I bring in 2 other wheats?

If you and your friends are new to this, I suggest putting the Van Winkle's to the back of the shelf and buying something else for the tasting. Like many other high-end spirits, it's not something you're going to like right out of the gate.

I agree with SMOWK. If you do want to include a Van Winkle product, you can keep the Lot B, but I'd definitely put the PVW15 and PVW20 back on your shelf. You could throw in another wheater, like OWA or Weller SR, and then maybe mix in a low rye and a high rye to see what y'all prefer in a blind taste test.

The pappy is in in South Carolina. And strange but it is cheaper than last fall. I got 4 bottles of 15 year for $52 a bottle. It was $59 last fall. STrange because RNDC told me there was going to be a price hike.

Hi RNDC...is it time for you to release Colorado yet? Is it...is it?

I just called sales at RNDC SC and asked what day it would be in the stores and they told me. So, I showed up on that day.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will see if I can save the PVW for when you come over.

Sadly, they are playing allocation games here in Dallas, and it's not so easy. They say it's "in house" but no orders have been processed yet - even though all the stores have ordered it.

Games... all games.

It may have to do with who the local RNDC sales manager is as to whether he wants to be informative. Also Columbia only has 4 stores that carry Pappy so that makes it easier.

Don't know if someone already mentioned it in here, but Julio's in Westborough, MA is using a lottery system for the chance to buy some VW this spring. While funds prevented me from entering for any more than a single bottle of 12 year, I just got the e-mail that I'm a winner! Hey, I'll take what I can get.

Most of the places I checked were selling out quick, but Warehouse (by union square) had the most pappy bottles I think I could ever expect to see, just in plain view.

FWIW, I stopped by there yesterday and they had sold out, as had Astor.
