jeff
Anyone have a good bourbon sour recipe that uses fresh fruit insted of bottled "sour mix"? Leslie really enjoys these and we are looking for the best one we can find. Thank!
ratcheer
That one's easy, it is one of the standard cocktails:Juice of 1/2 lemon1 teaspoon sugar1-1/2 oz whiskey (probably blended, but use whatever you want)Serve "up" or on the rocks. That's all there is to it.Tim
jeff
Thanks for the recipe Tim, I'll try that one. I have however heard or ran across one that used lemons, oranges and limes to make the sour mix. I wish I would have written it down. Do you know of anything that is similar? texascarl
Made as above, it's a proper Whiskey Sour. If you mix orange juice with the lemon juice, it becomes a 'Ward Eight' or a 'Scottish Guards Cocktail'.Ward 8 (Scottish Guard's Cocktail)1 1/2 ounces bourbon 1/2 ounce lemon juice 1/2 ounce orange juice 1 teaspoon grenadine Shake with cracked ice; strain into chilled cocktail glass. Anytime you need recipes, a great place to start is with Wired Magazine's online Virtual Blender from their Cocktail page.
jeff
Thanks for the info Carl. I think that is closer to what I remember. I'll try them both tonight and let you know which I prefer!
