So, I got my Whiskey Wedge yesterday and put it in the freezer.

will try it out next time I'm in the mood for something with a little ice.

It feels good in your hand, thick walls and a heavy base.

That looks really cool, it says the glass holds 9 ounces, figure about 1/2 is ice, so does it hold a 3+ ounce pour?

After reading your post, I got out a measuring cup and my Whiskey wedge.

With a fresh ice wedge in place, it will hold 4 ounces, with a bit of room to spare.

Wow, I'm in for some of those. They would really cool for guests.

Did some searching and I found some leads.

1) Per "TheTownSheriff" here, http://www.flickr.com/photos/ajjapan/5025266073/, it looks as thought this is called a "Fuji Glass" due to the peak shape at the bottom. He later found that they were packaged as part of a gift set for Suntory Whisky.

2) In the "Rotating Glasses" here on SB http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?17964-Rotating-glasses. it looks like member Luna56 has one and started the thread. From reading that thread, it looks like Kirin sold these for a bit. They seem to be available in Japan in bars near Mt. Fuji. This thread also contains a link to "TheTownSheriff"s flickr page I referenced in point 1 above.

Not sure if this helps much but thought I would share. Now I just need to find someone in Japan near Mt.Fuji who can buy some of these and ship to the US.

ok, we may be onto something. The key term to include in your google search is "dimple".

Like this?

Found a US seller on Amazon. Pretty expensive though.

OK. I think I got it now!!! US seller (Pennsylvania). Price is better too plus free shipping. They are the amazon seller in my previous post but the glasses are cheaper on their website.

Dooooooooood...

Good work my man! A little pricey but that is awesome!

See avatar. That is actual photo of my wedge in use containing an Stagg Jr perfect Manhattan. I use glencairns, DOFs, and rocks glasses from gift sets as well. All have their purpose.

If you just want the dimpled bottom, and aren't picky about the exact glass shape, This is an inexpensive version:

I actually got one of these for a Christmas gift a couple years ago.

I gave the Whiskey Wedge a try as well. It holds 4 oz with a little room to spare. Below is the review for any interested. I'm with chooch - every tool has its purpose. To be candid, I was expecting this to be a fail - so I was pleasantly surprised when it wasn't.

Although I'll admit - Glencairn is my favorite glass for drinking whiskey. I usually pour 0.5 - 1.5 oz at a time, and almost always neat with some water and a straw on standby. Right tool for the right job.

Well my Whiskeywedge came in today. It is a very nice sturdy glass. I'll Post a pic once the ice has set.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts on it! I've got mine back in the freezer - looking forward to giving it another go this weekend.

Well after the ice wedge set in the glass I decided to give it a go with my Balvenie 12 Doublewood. The ice lasted for at least an hour. the Scotch was cold quite quickly and went down chilled and very smooth. I only did 2 1.5 oz pours. Later I tried the Balvenie in a glencairn (neat) There was a lot more flavor.

Needless to say I really like the glass, I love the presentation that it does, If all you want to do is have a drink of your favorite whisky and want it on ice. This is a fantastic way to serve it. I wouldn't compare it to the whisky ball. except the ball can get a little awkward when your finishing your bourbon, scotch etc.

All in All. I really like it. IF you check the what dram are you drinking thread. I have a pic with the glass and a bottle of Balvenie. (Page 28)

My favorite glass right now is the same one Francis uses in The House of Cards season 3.

Not a very good pic, but I finally sprang for a pair of the Cibi crystal "Bladerunner" glasses.

something to sip from when bringing your WWII vintage plane in for a crash landing...
