Whoa!! That is pricey!

Cuban cigars these days vary so widely in quality, that I don't bother anymore.  Too many hoops to go through for what often ends in poorly constructed sticks with tight draws.    Some of my cigar brethren who smoke Cubans, almost exclusively, (and buy them by the box), don't seem to mind and must figure that taking a chance on a few bad smokes is worth it.      Not to me.     While there may be some great CC's out there, I'm not willing to jump through the hoops, or pay the outrageous prices, for the privilege.     There are far too many great cigars from other countries that are as good as, and better than, Cubans.

For Cubans I stick to Montecristo #2 and Robainas.  Usually get them from friends travelling to that island.

DR & Nicaragua put out so much good stuff.  There are even some made here in PR worth having.

Moved to the front patio with the radio and this Gurkha Nicaragua Series to listen to what I thought would be an easy 9th inning.  Not so easy, as seen by the chewing on the end of this stick… 😵💫. Luckily, Braves held on, so I can enjoy the rest of this in peace…. 🤪

Relaxing back after a very nice weekend with an H. Upmann Connecticut Grupo de Maestros.  Very nice.  Great burn.  Some spiciness, which is very complementary after BBQ chicken dinner, but easy smoking, still.  With an Amaretto de Saronno along side, this is really an enjoyable cigar.

I hesitated buying these because of the price and having to buy a box but damn this is the best Montecristo I’ve ever had.  “Worth it” is relative but I’m not sorry for the purchase.

Happy Father’s Day everyone!

My favorite brand, Foundation, and the El Gueguense Toro with a nice pour of WB Saffell out on the patio with a Solo Stove fire. Perfect night for this.

Rocky 15th Anniversary.  A nice reward after a full day packed with watching meat smoke and water freeze… 😁

Gentleman Geneve Limited Edition 2022. Nice smoke. Dark and roasty, nic hit right past the medium threshold, 80 minutes of fun.

Davidoff Zino. Very disappointing smoke. 8 bucks for a mediocre cigar, badly built and almost no taste, no specific aroma. Not recommended.

Oscar Valladeres Big Johnny. And big he was indeed! Once in a lifetime experience I guess. Took 2,5 hours to finish. Taste was okayish, last third better, dsrk, roasty, slightly nutty.

Your timing is uncanny @Sven Heuchert.  My wife and I were out and about today. There was a car just ahead of us, one lane to the right. As we pulled up along side, I looked over and the guy driving was smoking a cigar this size. 😲 Crazy.

Depending on the commute, a 2 1/2 hour cigar may be needed.

Not wasting any time diving right into this weekend with both feet.  Fixing’ to start it up with Daniel’s Coy Hill over a crystal clear cube, and a Montecristo 1935 Anniversary #2.
