Opened a barrel select of Ridgemont 1792. My first time to try this bourbon and somehow its not sitting too well with me. It is super astringent to me tonight. Don't know if its me or the bourbon, but i'll probably have to let this one sit for a while and revisit another time.

A little Bookers to start, some EC12 to finish.

Had a chuckle looking at my bar tonight. There was a time were 50% + of my open bottles were of Buffalo Trace origin. Looking tonight, not one bottle of Buffalo Trace Distilled bourbon or Rye open and it's not due to a shortage (my wife can assure you of that, ha!). Funny how you eb and flow. I'm sure in 6 months, the pendulum will swing back.

it is a Stitzel Weller kind of night

You always set a good example of how to drink your bourbon (or rye.) Give us a little comparison/tasting info when you have a chance.

Continuing my exploration of new things tonight with a sample bottle of Jack Daniels Single Barrel. Not bad, but kind of flat and not very complex. I won't be spending $40+ for a full bottle of this. I shall now improve my circumstances with some SB blend.

CEHTSmb, I really like this Bourbon and at $39.99 I think it's a great value.

Oh it also has a cork top. What more could I ask for.

Started with a small pour of EC 12, and then some Rumble Cask Reserve. I am happy to have bought the RCR when I had the chance, as it is a very interesting whiskey. And I am also glad that I didn't hoard, as I don't think I need to have it around all the time. It's not right in my wheelhouse (that spot is reserved for bourbon), but it is good.

Had some Russell's Reserve SB last night (refuse to acknowledge the ridiculous name); trying to finish the bottle. I'm not sure I care for it as a $50 bourbon. I think I like the 10 year better.

The 10-year is definitely an easy drinker. Polished off most of my bottle in just a few days.

Retuned from FL to Toledo--recently designated as having worst winter in the country--and consoled ourselves with nice pours of AE. Am tempted to add just a drop of port to some bourbon to see if the profile can be replicated. Any suggestions on which bourbon to use? In the interest of science, may be forced to try it with a dozen or so.

I actually really like the SB, and haven't had the 10-year, but wonder if a vatting ala the SB blend wouldn't work wonders with these two whiskies..

I like both the RRSB and the RRSmB. I can get the single barrell for $42 so worth the upgrade in my opinion but the 10 year is smooth and easy drinking.

When in doubt go with science.

Not Bourbon, but planning to kick off tonight's "Family Dinner Night" with some Green Spot Irish Whiskey.

Bourbon will be served, following the night's grilling activities, but can't decide which one.

May go big with some AECS, or break out the Booker's 25th.

making some awesome BBQ ribs for dinner, with "Doug's Ass-burnin' Powder" (homemade dried and ground habanero's......hot on both ends of the digestive tract) and some KCSB all mixed into the sauce. May even drink some bourbon with it!

Way too many bottles open and to choose from and somehow I'm doing the same .
