It was an impulse stop at a place that usually has a good selection, but prices are spotty (stagg jr in stock, but at $79.99), and I had to deal with bringing my toddler in with me. Turned out to be a very good decision.

break 'em in young!

Booker's batch C07-B-7. I think this is one of the ones that Chuck Cowdery recommended for Beam. At least, one of his comments (on his blog??) stated as much. I really enjoyed my pour of Booker's at a bar recently, so I figured I'd pick up a bottle. $53.99 sale.

Finally got around to picking up a bottle of new WTRB, along with a lecture about how Parkers Heritage won't end up on the shelf, only put aside for best customers, I guess I know my standing at that establishment  I was just curious if it had come and gone already.

I'm not too old to be lectured but damned if I will reward such rudeness by spending any money there.

Bought a Bulleit for about 40 bucks. I've been curious about it ever since I became a bourbon enthusiast back in 2004 so I finally had to buy it for a try.

It starts off nice and rye-ish, but that lasts for barely a second before its astringent finish takes over.

Yep, my reply would be a lecture about how I only put aside my bourbon money for my best vendors.

Agreed, guy did it in a friendly manner at least, I don't think he was looking to offend more he probably thought he was educating a youngin' about the market, and talked about his wife waiting for a few hours outside of a kmart to get his daughter a cabbage patch doll back in the 80s... but yeah, if hadn't already decided I wanted the WTRB I probably would have put it back and walked out.

I guess the Parkers Heritage releases are finally on the mainstream radar this year if shop keepers already have a canned answer for it.

Bought a bottle of Henry McKenna 10yr BIB Single Barrel. Last time I bought was years ago when it was the old packaging. Just hoping it's a lot better this time around.

WFE 11 year. Haven't tried it yet, but the 10 year picked by the same guy was just an outstanding bourbon.

Maker's Mark Cask Strength and Elijah Craig Cask Strength at retail. Neither on the shelf but if you asked, they allowed one per customer. I'm OK with that.

Got these two lovely bottles of drams. Already have act 1 and nice to see these pop up in California.
