I was looking at something from National Distilling Co. - Milwaukee, Wi. and somehow stumbled across this, thought I would put it out here for you guys just in case anyone is interested.

Found out this info from this site, how many of you knew this? I have an old stoneware jug from him, very cool to think that it may have been filled with the original OF...

Thought I would share a pic of the jug that I mentioned above, this is a salt glazed jug made by Charles Hermann, who was in business from 1856- 1886 in downtown Milwaukee, Wi. This jug is probably from around the 1880's or so. I started a long time ago collecting stoneware from this period of time.. more specifically from Milwaukee, and have amassed a pretty good sized collection. Back then you just brought your jug to the liquor store (General store) and they filled it for you .. right from the barrel.

post-10789-1448982184809_thumb.jpgHere's a pic of a decorated one (same maker) ..this one is a lot earlier, probably more from the late 1850's - 60's. They really liked their jugs back then....I really like them now.

Nice set of jugs you've got there!

But they don't match. That always bothers me.
