scb
Hello, I just came across a Rittenhouse Rye 20 Year that's from the old Continental Distilling days. It claims "Limited Edition," but I can't find any information on if it was in fact a limited offering, a one time thing, or a standard release. I'm not sure what year it's from, though the bottom of the bottle has a "66" on the right, so it may have been bottled then? Does anyone have any information on this bottle? Thanks for any help you can give!
PaulO
Look in the Collectables forum. There is a thread on dating old bottles. I don't see a UPC code on your bottle, so I'd say at least older than late 1970s. Is there a date on the tax strip? I'm sure someone around here knows the history of Continental in PA. BTW, nice find
scb
I posted in the Collectibles forum, but the thread disappearedHeaven Hill says the think it was bottled in 1966.Can anyone tell me about Continental Rittenhouse 20 Yr Rye bottled in 1966? Was the 20yr a limited release?
luther.r
I don't know if anybody is going to have specific info on this particular bottling. 1966 seems accurate given the glass date and the presence of a government refill warning which ended around 1965 but lingered for a couple more years on some bottles. I guess I meant to ask if someone has any info on any bottling of 20 yr Rittenhouse from the Continental days, not necessarily a 1966 bottling. I have no idea if the 20 yr was a common offering, limited releases, etc. Thanks
callmeox
The thread disappeared as double posting is not the appropriate way to get information. PaulO suggested that you refer to an old thread on bottle dating in the collectibles forum so opening a duplicate thread there was not necessary.
