Not had the Pritchard so can't compare to that. Cruzan is a big industrial rum that is maybe a step up from Bacardi (which is not saying that much in my opinion). Cruzan Aged Light rum is indeed a blend of rums from 1 to 4 years or so that is filtered to be almost clear like the Plantation. Will do as a mixer but not my preferred rum. A bit sweeter in character then FdC. Probably closer to Plantation but lacks a bit of the complexity of the Plantation which is a blend of rums from three different islands, hence the name. Cruzan is probably better than the Pritchard though. FdC 4yo Extra Dry, Plantation 3 star and ED 3yo are all better to me for cocktails. FdC is the driest and tends to be a favorite for mixing where you don't want to add more sweetness. Plantation is a little sweeter and Ed is the sweetest so would likely impact a cocktail more. The reverse order for drinking it straight although none of them is what I would call a sipping rum by themselves of course! Exceptional white rum and very cheap in the US. Note I'm not endorsing any other Bacardi. Other white rums of note include finding some leftover Tommy Bahama rum still around in stores (if you're a dusty hunter, you'll see it around from time to time). Wray & Nephew - Guess I like that hogo! Next on the radar to try something else is probably The Real McCoy or that Bacardi Heritage, depending on what the wife endorses... If you like Jamaican hogo you might want to also try Smith & Cross which is purpose made to bring hogo to a cocktail, not to mention some added punch at 114 proof. Santa Teresa is a Venezuelan "sweet" rum (meaning added sugar despite the likely protestations of the distillery) that is one of those pseudo solera aged rums which means their might be a little bit of older rum to include 15yo in it but the barrel gets periodically topped up with younger rum similar to Zacapa. So starting to do some research, read reviews, also this Rum forum. Purchased a Bacardi 8, and an Appleton 12 year recently. Opened the Bacardi 8 and was underwhelmed. Both are in the light Bajan style, but for me I think the Seale's has more flavor, costs less, and has a legitimate 10yr age statement. The XO is good, and I'd happily drink it any day, but it's too subtle for my tastes to be a preference.
