The Belize 15 is from Travellers Liquor Distillery and it’s quite an intense experience as the opacity might suggest. I picked the Caroni up locally and quietly, trying not to tip the LS owner off.

Roger that, will keep you in mind next time I'm in Louisiana :).

Is locally Baton Rouge? I get there every now and then for work and IDK a good rum store there.

Yes-- interesting bottles will show up on the rare occasion, but most of my rum comes from New Orleans, Hattiesburg and New York.

Copy, thanks. New Orleans does have several good options and they're getting better too.

Let us know your thoughts, I passed on all of those lol.  The RLS markup for like 2 more years of aging just didn't make sense to me.

When you recognize how much money you are spending, it starts to make plenty of sense to me.

Bought it today and drinking it now. Houston Bourbon Society pick, no dosage. It’s quite good. I’m thinking about picking up another.

Been trying to reel in the Mount Gay Pot Still for quite a while, and ended up with a duplicate Labat Réserve Familiale in the process.

Nice-- I've always been curious about those Dictador “BEST OF” vintages.

Local group was included in a barrel pick for Holmes Cay with a couple other groups... Novice when it comes to rum and first venture with HC but it sure is tasty.

Sorry, last rum pick of April… these vintages show up so randomly, at least in these parts.

  • 3 weeks later...

Not really a rum drinker but at dinner for our 35th wedding anniversary on Saturday night we got to talking to the manager of the restaurant about bourbon, etc. and he said he wanted us to try something.  He brought us two glasses, one with a cream and one a darker brown color.  I nosed the clear one and got toasted marshmallows, orange, creme brulee, brown sugar.  Sipped it and it was very flavorful.  He said it was Bumbu Rum.  Poured some of the cream version into our French press coffee and it was also very tasty.  Found a bottle of the rum at our local Kroger W&S on Sunday so I picked it up.

Holmes Cay is normally pretty good at their picks, let us know what you think.

It is really good... More dark dried fruits than fresh, even some green apple and pineapple jumps in ... Kinda gives a prickly mouthfeel on the palate and is a great switch up from bourbon... Proof is fine and I am happy I grabbed two.

I haven’t tried this but a 14 year Foursquare sounded interesting.

Bought a 1L of Pusser's Blue Label, Hamilton NY Blend, and 7yr. Hampden.  Nothing stellar but all good pours.

The New York Blend is somewhat of a collector’s item; now that the named has changed.
