List your current top 5 American whiskies. Use whatever criteria you want.

No store selects, no limited editions, currently available somewhere but not necessarily common.

No particular order.

As your top 5 change, quote your previous post, and let us know what changed for you.

Mine are pretty consistent:

4R Single Barrel

ECBP (readily available here)

KCSB

WTRB

BT/ETL/RHF - whichever I can find at the time. (ETL is the choice if always there.)

RHF, OF Sig, WT101, RR10/90, and some iteration of Jim Beam, would be happy with JBB, JB BIB, or the Single Barrel (only at clearance prices, bought a few at $20).  I like the Jim Beam funk (based on opinions of this forum).  I would call it their style, which is different from everybody else.  Beam takes a beating around here, not exactly sure why.  I think it is because it is too common.  Beam is the girl next door, very attractive, but too easy or available maybe.

Damn fine list (and representing 5 houses at that)!

Read this and though, damn... Steve read my mind.  The only thing I'd change is the BT/ETL/RHF, adding Hancock's in place of the BT.

mine would probably be:

ER10 - it's really been hitting the spot for me the last few months

FRSB

Blanton's

EC12 (ECBP unfortunately, not readily available here...)

Booker's

Four Roses single barrel

Evan Williams single barrel, any year so far

Blantons

Very Old Barton, BIB

James E. Pepper 100 proof. Yes I know this is from Indiana but of all the NDP stuff I like this one.

Subject to change without reason, or notice. :D

OK, I will be the first to change my list...(I think)

Returning:

Four Roses Single Barrel

Buffalo Trace

Jefferson's Reserve

NEW:

Evan Williams BIB

Wild Turkey Rare Breed

I was the only person with a rye, so I took down the HWRR. The last few pours of Larceny just haven't done it for me, and have tasted pretty astringent, so I took that down too.

The EWBIB is just such a decent and well rounded bourbon, I prefer it over just about any other when I just want something simple. The WTRB was just very nice, and I'm putting this in after a single pour, so I might regret it/change my mind...

I'll go with what's readily available here in Germany. Since I buy 90% of my Bourbons online these are:

Stagg Jr (Batch 3)

Blanton's Straight from the barrel

Booker's

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof

Weller 12

One of those things is not like the others. .. How did the Weller 12 make the list with 4 barrel proofers?

Elmer T Lee(just not readily available)

EHT (any of these)

4RSB

OF 1897

RHF/SAOS 10

Blanton's

Four Rose Single Barrel

Eagle Rare 10

Evan Williams Single Barrel

Larceny

My choices have changed over time, based on price and availability.  I am fine with BT but I can general find ER10 for $5 more and I prefer it.  If BT were still closer to $15, that might switch back.  I can still find EWSB in the low to mid-$20s.  I also prefer OWA and WL12 over Larceny but they aren't readily available any more.

Pikesville Rye fits nicely into this group and would be among my top 3.  I didn't include it because I am not sure how widely available it is.  I can generally find it if I look hard enough.

Pikesville is a perfectly acceptable option. As long as it is available somewhere, it fits within "the rules". Anything no longer produced would not be within said rules.

Weller 12

MMCS

Jim Beam BIB

4R Small Batch (I know I am "supposed" to like the Single Barrel better, but I don't..)

Booker's
