Very nice!! If you like your CEHT, I suggest you get a CEHT Straight Rye, I'm having a pour of mine right now and it's amazing!

Non rye: I'd throw in a Rock Hill Farms, if you can find one. Or any wild turkey (101.... Or rare breed if you want barrel proof)

Cheers!

Picked up the CEHT Rye yesterday. Last one on the shelf. It'll be a while before I crack it open, but I'm sure it'll be fantastic. Thanks for the recommendation! Next on my list is a RRSB...

I like them OC Classic 90 tax stamp. very good bourbon.

Yeah, me too.  My dad is in his 70s and most of my OC12s are reserved for his birthdays, Fathers Day, and such.  He usually only gets a bottle a year! lol   Occasionally (every couple of years) I'll crack one open and enjoy it in solitude.  OC12 is actually what got me deep into bourbon.  When it was readily available I didn't buy anything else.  When it was no longer produced, I went into OC12-hunting mode buying up what I could find across the country in liquor stores and on the secondary market.  After all of that dried up, I went on the hunt for replacements and started trying different bottles.  Everything was pretty plentiful and cheap back then.  It still hurts my feelings to pay over about $30 for something these days, but it is what it is and I've learned there is still some good cheap stuff out there that is (still) plentiful!

Hello everyone! New to the forum and just thought I’d show off my small collection. I just started really getting into whisk(e)y late last year.

Great setup! I'd be worried of my toddler grabbing them all throwing them lol. I've had to hide them for now. But once he's older I'll be able to showcase it more like this.

I suppose. I still don’t understand touting the low entry proof. If you want something uncut, buy barrel proof. And is Stagg Jr. less appealing because it’s “cut” to ~130 pf, which is higher than entry pf but lower than when it’s dumped? I take your point. I guess I just don’t see it as something that would motivate my decision process. I do like RR. Thanks for explaining.

I believe you are thinking of 1792 Full proof which is proofed down to Barrel Entry Proof, Stagg Jr is in fact barrel proof, at least according to the label.

Ah. I didn’t realize Stagg Jr. was barrel proof. I made a mistake in picking my example. I was trying to give an example of something that was proofed down, but still higher than entry proof. 1792 is a good call. Probably I should’ve just stuck to the point that each of the distillers picks an entry proof that gives them what they want in quality and value. Whether the final product is bottled at close to entry proof is less important to me than it is to Mako. Nothing wrong with that.

Very nice collection.  Lots of older Eagle Rare and other Weller.  I suppose you were able to find all of those in the Quad Cities area?  Any favorite LS near there?  Not a Hawkeye fan, surrounded by them though.  Go Badgers!

My collection has changed alot since I last posted a "show your stash" photo so I figured I would snap a couple photos. The second photo is the "bunker" or otherwise known as "the other bottles the wife doesn't know about."

The bottom shelf is the wine collection. The wife and I go to a winery each anniversary and add a bottle to collect.

So I finally got (most) of the Bourbon unpacked and relocated to the dedicated Bourbon Bookcase.  Singles occupy the bookcase, any multiples thereof are stashed wherever there's cupboard/closet space.   Not shown are multiple handles - 4 of OFitz BiB, 2 more of EC12, 3 more of 8yr 1792 RR, and a Larceny.   Might have a few more hiding somewhere, that'll be a pleasant surprise at the next move...

It took me a while to go through the 21 pages, but well worth it. That’s some impressive stashes out there. Here’s my modest stash.

The 3 in the back are hidden for good reason. Don’t want to share my GTS with just anyone. Wife helped me showcase it. Was fun to get her involved and supportive of my bourbon addiction.

cheers!

If you've garnered 3 bottles of GTS in the short time you implied in your post in the New to SB thread, you are doing VERY WELL!!!!     Congrats!!!

Many (probably most) of us didn't obtain any this year, or not more than one.    Personally, I had a choice of ONE bottle of BTAC and went for the WLW instead of the Stagg.

Thanks! That’s the other one I really wanted. I’m hoping I’ll get one this year. There’s a store on the Michigan Ohio line that has lists that you can get on. After 5 years I may get another Stagg this year! I’m far off of the WLW list though. They got Parker’s heritage for the first time so I’m on the list with only one or two others. Fingers crossed.

  • 1 month later...

My wife bought me a new hutch/desk that matches my old desk and bookshelf.  So naturally I could not put office supplies in it, I had to put some bourbon, just makes sense.

Hey Woody!

I'm quiet, clean up after myself, and can cook.

Can we be friends?

Mostly my dream bunker, only more of it.  WoW.
