That looks like different packaging on that bottle of Spice Tree but the Whisky Bible note means it must be a newer version. No doubt good stuff either way!

From what I can gather from 5 minutes on Google, the 2017 Whisky Bible was published in October 2016 so this particular box was printed after that date. Not sure if all the other style boxes are older than that, or if they printed a small number of those with the Whisky Bible mention to spur sales, then reverted back to the standard version. Regardless it's a good dram and I was glad to snag the last one before the store closed!

BTW, prices in NY seem to be all over the board and generally higher than other parts of the country. How does the $65.99 price tag compare with others?

Although the ABV is on the low side, a 27 year Dalmore without the fake tan and chill filtration sounded worthwhile. Also against tradition, a 16yo bourbon cask matured Blairfindy (Glenfarclas) at 108.2 proof should prove interesting.

This has been sitting on a local LS shelf for quite a while at a relatively reasonable price given what I’ve seen it priced at in other stores. With a 10% discount, I finally couldn’t resist. It’ll be a special occasion opening at some point in the future. 687b7278806d5149c9ca62983b876109.jpg

Indeed the labels are different as well as the boxes.

I have an idea in my head about what a bourbon cask Glenfarclas would taste like I'm sure it is not accurate.  I'm sure I would like that baby Talisker as well!

Going off the dead distillery (although soon to re-open) deep end… hope it survives the flight home.

Hit my quota of what I can safely carry back from Chicago. I despise the official bottlings of Royal Brackla I have, so I'm hoping this unadulterated version can paint a better picture of the distillery's capabilities.
