some info on how the flagship, buffalo trace is made

Recommended Posts

1. Buffalo trace is taken from 3 out of the 11 warehouses, middle level selections
2. The batches are 40 barrels or less
3. The age is no less than 8 years old
4. The label for the bottle was voted on by the employee's of the distillery 
5. The flavor profile was picked by 15 retired workers
6. The tasting panels is at least 5 people (for all products)

So why wouldn't they put an 8yo age statement on BT? Or even 7yo for that matter if they wanted to give themselves some wiggle room. He also says, or least implies, that all Weller is at least 7yo (at about the 8:45 mark and again later). This was posted in 2016 but no idea when it was recorded. Maybe it is a fair bit older than it appears. Although Weller SR and OWA lost their age statement well before 2016. Hmm.

 

I have no real reason to doubt what is said and absolutely no proof to the contrary but I still can't help feel like it seems a bit odd to me.
