Each of these had their special qualities. I made notes of my ratings based on Nose, Palate and Finish which are evaluated equally. The finish is really important to me and all actually delivered. This was hard to score but here are the final results: #1 - OF1897 #2 - EHTSB #3 - HMK #4 - 1792 BIB OF hit all the right notes tonight and wow what an excellent finish. Around my area this product sells for $49.99 which is the most expensive out of the bunch in my market. Honestly EHT and HMK are toss ups. Both have a great balance are the best in their class. 1792 fell flat in some areas but the mouthfeel and finish were noteworthy. A great time was had by all and a very nice variety of bourbons were set on the table to sample. I brought a CEHT 4g (2017) while someone else brought the 2018 version. Some SBS's were done. Further testing is needed. I also got to try Michters Toasted Barrel and New Riff. Wow, both had unique tastes that smacked you upside the head right off the bat. Further testing is needed. And saddens me to say it considering the hype it gets, I got to try ETL for the first time. Talk about a major letdown. I cannot believe there is a mad rush to acquire this bourbon when there is nothing there. I had taken some of my stash to the mother in law's while we were showing our other house. One of the bottles I took there was a handle of rear age stated EC12. I figured.. however I prefer higher proofs normally and was hoping for at least a similar profile to the SmB then coupled with a greater octane making the best of both worlds.. for me..
