Had a couple mint Julips for Derby day using OWA and FRSB PS. That was just the beginning of a fun tasting we had with Ryes.

Hints of green apple jolly rancher from this particular bottle.   Love this stuff!

2 oz. of Early Times BIB...........that just happens to be in my Mint Julep.

Hated the outcome of the race today. It soured the race for sure. This Mint Julep isn't going to drink itself though.

It was my first too...back in the days when you couldn’t sample anything, and all they provided after the tour was lemonade! I need to go back there again someday.

Me too!  The lemonade!  Haha

Went out to dinner at a nice steakhouse with a small group friends, to celebrate one of their birthdays.  Had a nice old fashioned with Knob Creek rye during pre dinner cocktails.  Had a very nice 14 oz NY Strip for dinner accompanied by a really superb cabernet.   To top it off, we shared a very nice souffle for dessert.  Back home now and after that fantastic meal, the bottle that sounded the best to me was OF 1910, and it definitely hits the spot tonight.  Funny, I had this same whiskey the other night and just didn't do it for me.  I believe this OF1910 is basically a dessert whiskey for  my palate.

Okay, my palate is kick-started and warmed up again.  Gonna take advantage of the opportunity.

Yeah, no kidding.  Major buzz kill.

ET BIB is fantastic though.  I bet that makes a good julep.

Well, don't leave us in suspense.  What year/proof is it?

:)

Mine's a vinoteque.  A spirits glass highly recommended for barrel proof whiskeys.

Ha, weird. I changed bottles & ran out of Glencairn glasses.

Cheers

Palate is working well tonight.  Time to make hay while the sun shines.

CEHT barrel proof now.  The 128.1 proof variety.  The fine Colonel is quite good, but can't quite hang with his older brother ,Mr. George T.

Great choices.  It's the "C-3PO of bourbons" on this May the Fourth weekend.

Old Forester Statesman has appeared at the Delta Sky Club. A quite generous double on my way to Dallas.

My third Old Forester 86 double since hitting the ATL Sky Club, gotta stop the heavy tipping— as they just keep coming.

Apparently they can’t sell hooch on  Sunday until after 12:30– so a nice intro to the complementary offerings.

Thoroughly enjoyed a pour of OEBP last night.  Sipped neat it was delicious but I was amazed by how it opened up with the addition of a few drops of water...

Recently opened an ETL from somewhere in the early-mid, wax dipped. How the mighty have fallen... this is brilliantly sweet, touch of spice, rich, huge flavour for 90 proof, just excellent. Savouring every drop.

Cheers!
