I like the center leg to support your tribe on the table...

I was thinking the center leg support could fall under the "Pro Tip" category, but after thinking about a bit more realized that with the GBS boys stumbling around, it's a necessity. :P

productive day. longmorn was an impulse grab as i don't recall seeing this before at other locals and the price was reasonable. will be eager to compare to the redesigned mortlach 16.

Great line-up-- I hope the cork on the Heavily Peated Benriach hangs in there after 14 years on the shelf.

Curiosity got the best of me today on this one.  I like rum and I like peaty scotch so what could go wrong????  Found it at retail price too so I thought I’d give a try.

Funny that the standard release of DRUM is priced only a few dollars under the Committee Release version, which makes the CR that much trickier in the scheme of things.

A horse of a different color, but it still makes me recognize what a bargain the new Quinta Ruban 14 is (although I've seen the prices creep up over the last few weeks)…

Yes, it was looking a bit too "flexible" in the center of the table last year so the leg was needed to keep everything, and everyone, in the more or less upright position!

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference between the two?  I’ve read a little bit about Ardbeg Committee Releases but I don’t know much about them.

An additional 6% ABV, 94% marketing and 0% age statement.

Ah yes, GBS International Whisky Night does have a way of doing that to you!

The Longrows are in there. Somewhere...

Is this a first generation Machir Bay (without the "coin" on the bottle shoulder)? If so, it ranks as one of my most memorable bar pours ever-- and none of the later MB releases came close in terms of raw wickedness.

Picked up a Powers Three Swallows yesterday. Supposedly relatively new to the US, and I've liked their other expressions, so what the heck.

Grabbed some samples from Fine Drams.  Hoping the Single Grain is better than the 14 year I recently opened.

Picked up a bottle of Yamazaki 18 in Chicago - typically get one every 6-8 months ... a little surprised when it rang up at $299.99...I love this stuff but it’s starting to get seriously pricey

I love it too but the first and last bottle I bought was $89.99 when it first hit the states. It has been on a rocket trajectory since then that has outpaced even Macallan’s price surge. Oh well. On to other stuff I guess.

Haven't seen much about this online but I can't turn down a cask strength Laphroig.  The retailer had a limit one per person policy so I will need to scour for a backup.

I was smitten by the Double Double 32, plus it paid off as a major good luck charm-- so I completed the series…

Showing great restraint in Chicago— encountered a trove of dusty indies but only grabbed the one that really sang out...

Couldn’t pass up the combo of a Distillery Label and dead distillery... I’m sure the cork is dead, too. Love the “Beastmaster” label graphics— perfect fit for the 1980 distillation date.

As a “thank you” to the fine folks at Bacardi/Dewar’s who granted a very tricky request (more to come)...

I actually passed on this-- but damn, what a deal. Binny's gets my vote as the big chain with more hits than misses. I ran across many similar offers throughout the day.

For 31 years it is pretty pale looking! I know nothing of Glen Mhor other than what is on the interwebs which says it is a long closed highland distillery from Inverness. Will be curious to hear if it is any good!

I took the color as a good sign— probably ex-ex-bourbon with some remaining distillery character and no E-150a. From what I’ve read, it’s a stylistic link to the past and uniquely odd. I’ll let you know.

Picked up something different (for me) today.  Luckily I got to taste it before I bought it, and I have to say it’s pretty damn good whiskey. I can definitely sip on this every now and then.
