Just passed on a bottle of Elmer T Lee yesterday. The price point was 107, which I thought was to high as I have a bottle that I paid 80 for. I was hesitant even at 80 to buy it but was curious, still am as I have not opened it yet. At those prices though it had better be a whole lot better than WT101.

I don’t think it is or least not in my experience over the past few years. I mean it’s good but not $80 good. Personally I’d rather have WT101 almost any day.

See if you can return the $80 bottle and stock up on WT101 handles.

It is most certainly not better than WT101.

RY10 and WSR @ $59 and $27 each as well as VOB100 @$14.

Got there too early on delivery day, I’m going to have to swing back by on the way home and see what’s new for the week. Still searching/hoping for CEHT SiB at msrp, I found a few at a “quicky mart” store for ~$95  which I’ve been passing on

I've had some ETL bottles/barrels that were stellar and some not so much. I don't know I'd use the word "better" when comparing the two. They are definitely different experiences. Some barrels of ETL I would hands-down pick over WT101. Most other times it's a toss up over what I'm the mood for.

Edit..not advocating $80 for ETL. I admit to having spent $50 before but likely wouldn't again. I grabbed a few at $35 ea last year.

I think $107 is a hard pass for many of us for ETL. But then again $80 would be a hard pass for many of us too

You really think so? I would think that at either price point, it would be an easy pass for the vast majority of us.

I think that’s what I said, that it would be a hard pass for many of us at both of those prices.

For sure, in my case, though that 107 might be a great proof point for the brand.... Just sayin'....

Come to think of it, it would be a great proof for a good many brands that are currently below 100-proof.

What boggles my mind is that you all can still find ETL at a non-tater price point.  Last time I saw it around here, it was $100+.  I have to work harder at finding my honey hole.....

I have some good stores and once in a while they’ll pull one from behind a counter for me at a decent price. I think the last time was $46 + tax. Honestly though, I don’t put any effort into looking for ETL. I’ll buy them at good prices but more often I end up giving them away as gifts than actually drinking them myself. If I had to choose I’d personally put more effort into picking up RHFs these days, but again I don’t overpay for that either. I still pay up for certain LEs but for the most part I’ve achieved some form of bourbon zen.

+1 on the RHF, those are unicorns around here as well.

The WT 13 is probably the least desirable of the bunch, if you have to start choosing.  The other two are much more robust in flavor.

They are all good though.

If you see WT101 12year, buy it!

All over EW12 and interested in the 13yr even at 90 proof.

Not by me, I think it's an underrated pour.

I actually enjoy the WT13y quite a bit.

My comment was just an opinion that if you can only get two bottles, then I'd probably get the other two.  I don't know what your situation is, or how many bottles you can bring home.

The WT 13y is very similar to the U.S. Diamond anniversary release from a few years back, both in flavor profile and proof.  Many people didn't seem to care much for it because of the lower proof and more subtle flavor profile.

Many people seem to enjoy the higher proof and more robust flavors from the 101p.

If you're one of the folks who enjoyed the diamond anniversary, then by all means, you will probably enjoy the 13y.

If you typically prefer the 101p WT, then you may not enjoy the 13y as much.  Thus the 8y or 12y 101p would probably be more your thing.

If you find 12y 101 at a decent price, I highly recommend it.

The red label EW 12 year is just fantastic IMO.  The price at the EW gift shop stinks, so if you have the opportunity to pick it up cheaper, in Japan,  do it!

Is there any older Ezra Brooks these days? Maybe 12 or 15? Or are those all gone?

Not that I’m aware of.

Just the 7y barrel strength.

I have to imagine those and all those odd export bottlings like The Yellow Rose 12 year have to be picked through by now but I guess some oddball shop in Japan may still have it.

I agree with all this but I’d personally would still like to try the 13yr. I like 10yr RR so I’m sure I’d like this. It’s like I think $40USD. That being said if luggage space is limited I’d rather stock up on 12yr EW101. That or maybe try to taste it at a bar first.
